About Jizo Temple
Ksitigarbha Temple is a Buddhist religious place dedicated to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Its belief originates from the Buddhist tradition that Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva controls the underworld. It is mostly distributed in various parts of China and Taiwan. The typical architectural layout includes the Shanmen Hall, the main hall and the back hall, which mainly enshrines the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and some are dedicated to Min Gong, Daoming or Guanyin Bodhisattva. Some nunneries retain historical relics such as ancient cypresses and incense burners. The construction period of this place spans a wide range, including cases of construction in the Tang Dynasty and reconstruction in the Qing Dynasty, as well as newly built nunneries in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
