About Huanxiu Bridge
Jingang Village, Fengxian District, Shanghai, was a small town in ancient times called Liugang Town. Huanxiu Bridge is part of the ancient town and was built in the third year of Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1877). Huanxiu Bridge spans "Baimiao Port" from east to west. It is a single-hole stone arch bridge with a length of 23.3 meters, a width of 3.44 meters, a height of 4.7 meters, an aperture of 5 meters, and a total of 59 arch stones. The two stone steps are 26 and 29 respectively. On the east side of the bridge was the Yuan nunnery. There is a ginkgo tree from the Ming Dynasty in the nunnery, which is more than 400 years old. The ancient nunnery was destroyed in wars throughout the ages and was demolished during the Cultural Revolution. The ancient ginkgo was spared and bloomed and bore fruit every year.
