About Buddha Palm Sand Dune
Buddha Palm Sand Dune (also known as Tanniang Sand Dune) is located on the north bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, near the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. It is named after its shape resembling the Buddha's palm with folded hands. The scale of its sand dunes is second only to the Wolong Sand Dunes in Milin City. It is located in the strong wind mouth section of the middle and lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. From late autumn to late spring, strong winds continue to transport and accumulate the exposed river sand during the dry season, forming a unique wind accumulation landscape. It is said that the place below the sand dune was originally the location of Lagang Village. It is said that after the village was buried by wind and sand, the villagers moved there and established Samba Village.
