About Rufu Stone Tower

Rufu Stone Pagoda (formerly known as Shishan Pagoda, commonly known as Straw Shoe Pagoda) is located in Rufu Village, Shishan Town, Xiuying District, Haikou City, Hainan Province. It was a Buddhist stone pagoda built with donations from local people in the Yuan Dynasty. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Hainan Province. The tower is entirely constructed of volcanic rocks. The original tower is 2.6 meters high and has five floors. The base is about 6.1 meters high and is connected to the ground by 27 steps. The pagoda is often mistakenly called the "Nirvana Pagoda" (also known as the "Nirvana Pagoda") due to the widespread folk legend of the "Straw Shoe Pagoda". According to records in the "Zhengde Qiongtai Chronicles" of the Ming Dynasty, its original name was "Shishan Pagoda" and it was "built by people from Yuanxiang" and was not built in the late Song Dynasty.
