About Citizen Square

Citizen Square, also known as Cultural Square, is a multi-functional public space planned and constructed under the leadership of the government in China's urbanization process after the 1990s. It is often known as the "urban living room". With the advancement of old city reconstruction and road widening projects, local governments have included citizen squares in public service facility planning and built around greening, landscape, lighting and other elements to form an open area integrating parks and cultural positions. The square is equipped with water-friendly facilities, fitness equipment, performance venues and underground parking lots, and relies on bus lines to enhance transportation connectivity. As a carrier of urban culture, it daily carries diverse scenes such as square dances, traditional folk performances, and youth activities.
