About Sanmao's Former Residence
San Mao's former residence is located at No. 145 Huangjueya Old Street, Nan'an District, Chongqing. It is the birthplace and childhood residence of Taiwanese writer San Mao (real name Chen Maoping). It once lived in San Mao, his parents, sister and uncle's family. This building is a typical residential house in eastern Sichuan in the 1930s. It uses a small green tile roof and a mixed structure of civil engineering. It has existing original components such as stone sills, wooden beams and columns. Sanmao lived here until 1948. The former residence was transformed into a tea house in 2014. After protective renovation was started in 2016, it was restored to a two-story wooden structure with a construction area of 170 square meters and seven rooms, including study scenes, painting studios and three themed exhibition areas: "Who am I", "Where have I been" and "Sanmao in my heart".
