About Former site of the Austro-Hungarian Embassy
The former site of the Austro-Hungarian Embassy is located at No. 3, Taijichang Toutiao, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It was originally the Palace of Prince Yu. It was rebuilt into the Austro-Hungarian Embassy in the 27th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1901). It is now the China International Issues Research and Academic Exchange Foundation. Only the main gate and the main building remain at the old site of the Austrian Embassy. The building is in Western classical style. The main entrance on the facade is a two-story verandah, with triangular pediments on the eaves to highlight the key points, and corridors on both sides. On October 20, 1995, the former site of the Austrian Embassy was announced by the Beijing Municipal People's Government as one of the fifth batch of municipal cultural relics protection units in Beijing.
