About Imperial Vault of Heaven
The Imperial Vault of Heaven, originally named Taishen Temple, is the main hall of the Temple of Heaven, the Circular Mound, and the Tianku. It is a temple used for the daily worship of the sacred tablets offered in the ceremony of worshiping the sky. The Imperial Vault is located in the Echo Gallery of the Temple of Heaven Park. It is a circular courtyard. In the center of the courtyard is the circular imperial dome hall, with a five-bay auxiliary hall on the east and west sides. The outer perimeter is a circular courtyard wall (echo wall), and the gate and courtyard are named after the palace. Huang Qiong Yu was built in the ninth year of Jiajing (1530) in the Ming Dynasty, and was renamed Huang Qiong Yu in the seventeenth year of Jiajing (1538). It was originally a circular building with double eaves.
