About Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests
The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, also known as the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, formerly known as the "Great Sacrifice Hall", is the main building of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. It was the place where Emperor Meng Chun of the Ming and Qing dynasties prayed for good harvests. It is the only remaining example of ancient Mingtang-style architecture. It is located on Tiantan East Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests was built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420). It was "imitated after the Nanjing system" and implemented the combined worship of heaven and earth, which was named "Tian of Heaven and Earth". In the 19th year of Jiajing's reign, an edict was issued to remove the Great Sacrifice Hall.
