About Hall of Divine Light

Chengguang Hall is located in Tuancheng, Beihai Park, Beijing. It is the main building of Tuancheng. It was called Yitian Hall in the Yuan Dynasty, and was renamed Chengguang Hall after reconstruction in the 15th year of Yongle reign in the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the 29th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and expanded in the 11th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign. The building is a square hall with double eaves on the top of the mountain, yellow glazed tiles and green trimmed edges. There is a single-eaves rolling shed style building on each side, and a platform on the south. The white jade Buddha of Sakyamuni is enshrined in the hall. It is 1.5 meters high and is carved from a single piece of white jade. His cassock is inlaid with precious stones. His left arm has knife marks destroyed by the Eight-Power Allied Forces.
