About Culture Arch
Wenmingfang was built in the 16th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1890). It was originally the gate of Lijiang Confucian Temple. It was rebuilt in the Xinmao year of Guangxu (1891) and moved to Heilongtan Park in 1966 for use as the gate. The building is in the shape of a three-fold water-wood archway, with three bays up to 10 meters wide. The roof of the open bay is higher than the secondary bays and is equipped with eaves on the top of the mountain. There are eight-character screen walls on both sides. The architectural paintings are well preserved, and the foreheads are painted with traditional auspicious patterns such as dragon patterns and cloud patterns. The four Ming Dynasty stone lions in front of the gate were made by Mu Zeng in the early years of the Qing Dynasty. They were originally relics of Zhongyi Square.
