About Enyou Temple Gate
The gate of Enyou Temple is located outside the west gate of Peking University at No. 5 Yiheyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing. It was built in the first year of Yongzheng (1723) in the Qing Dynasty. It was built by Emperor Yongzheng to commemorate Emperor Kangxi at the former site of Qingxi Bookstore in Changchun Garden. It was burned down by the British and French forces in the 10th year of Xianfeng (1860), and only the mountain gate remained. It was restored by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau in 1985. It was listed as the ninth batch of municipal cultural relics protection units in Beijing on August 19, 2021. In January 2025, it was announced to be included in the protection scope and construction control zone of the eleventh batch of Beijing cultural relics protection units.
