About Peaceful Heart
Jingxinzhai, formerly known as Jingqingzhai, is located on the north bank of Beihai Park in Beijing. It was built in the 22nd year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1757), covering an area of 4,700 square meters. It was a study for the crown prince of the Qing Dynasty. With the stacked stone landscape as the core, the building complex is built to imitate Jiangnan gardens, integrating elements such as pavilions, pavilions, small bridges and flowing water, forming a garden within a garden with the characteristics of a northern courtyard. In the eleventh year of Guangxu (1885), Empress Dowager Cixi built additional buildings and built a small train station. In 1900, it was destroyed by the Eight-Power Allied Forces and was occupied by the Japanese army as a headquarters. After renovation in 1913, it was used as a banquet venue for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
