About Emporer's Happiness Garden
Huanxi Garden is a garden attraction located on the south side of Xiangshan Park in Haidian District, Beijing. It is an internal attraction of Xiangshan Park. Xiangshan Park as a whole is a national AAAA-level scenic spot. It was built in the 10th year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1745). It was originally the place where Emperor Qianlong meditated and stayed. After being burned down by the British and French forces in 1860, it was rebuilt in 1997 according to the original appearance of the Qing Dynasty. The name of the garden comes from the Buddhist meaning of "joy". The architectural layout is centered on the main hall, the east side hall and the square pavilion, adjacent to Toad Peak, Xiangshan Temple and other landscapes. Toad Peak on the south side is one of the 28 scenic spots in Jingyi Garden.
