About West Flower Hall 1
Xihua Hall is located in the northwest corner of Zhongnanhai, Beijing. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it became the office and residence of Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao. The West Flower Hall covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters, about 160 meters long from north to south and 60 meters wide from east to west. It consists of two courtyards. The West Flower Hall was originally the regent's palace of the Qing Dynasty, and Zaifeng, the father of the last emperor Puyi, once lived here. During Yuan Shikai's tenure as president, his State Council and the State Council of the Beiyang warlords were mostly located here. In November 1949, Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao moved to the east wing of Songshou Zhai in Zhongnanhai and lived in Xihua Hall. Until Zhou Enlai's death in 1976 and Deng Yingchao's death in 1992, they lived there for 43 years.
