About Naigu Stone Forest
Naigu Stone Forest is located 8 kilometers north of the Stone Forest Scenic Area in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, with a total area of about 30 square kilometers, of which the tourist area is about 10.25 square kilometers. It is the core area of the Yunnan Stone Forest World Natural Heritage and a national 4A tourist attraction. The scenic area is dominated by karst landforms. The rocks are Permian dolomitic limestone 270 million years ago. The stone pillars are gray-black, with a maximum height of more than 40 meters. Most of them are in the shape of castles and towers. Together with underground caves and lakes, they form a three-dimensional landscape of "looking up from the peak, turning above the ground, and drilling underground". 9 karst caves have been discovered. "Naigu" means "ancient black" in the Yi language.
