About Qiyuan

Qiyuan, located in Wuyuan Town, Haiyan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, was originally known as "Feng's Garden" and is a typical private garden in the south of the Yangtze River. In the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), Feng Zuanzhai built three residences; in the tenth year of Tongzhi (1871), he combined the essence of Zhuoyi Garden and Inkstone Garden run by his father-in-law Huang Xieqing to build Qiyuan behind the residence "Feng Sanletang", which means "beautiful makeup". Qiyuan covers an area of 10,000 square meters. It is laid out in a pattern of three mountains and two rivers. It is divided into north and south areas. There are "Ten Scenes of Qiyuan" such as the nine-curved pond, the beauty looking in the mirror, etc. The park is dominated by trees, mountains and pools, and is dotted with buildings.
