About Baisha Ancient Town

Baisha Ancient Town is located at the southern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, 10 kilometers north of the ancient city of Lijiang. It borders Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the north, Longquan to the south, and Zhishan Mountain to the west. It is the earliest settlement of the Naxi people and the birthplace of the Mu clan chieftain regime. It was the political, economic, and cultural center of Lijiang during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. As part of the World Cultural Heritage Lijiang Old Town, its residential buildings cover an area of 1.06 square kilometers. The layout is centered on the north-south axis, retaining the traditional residential pattern of "three squares and one screen wall". More than 90% of the architectural styles of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are still present.
