About Circle gate building
The circle gate crossing building is a form of crossing building evolved from the ancient city gate buildings in my country. It is located in Mentougou District, Beijing, across the Mentougou Drainage ditch (Heihe ditch), from which the name of the "Mentougou" district comes. The building is a three-hole masonry arch structure with a hall on the upper part. It has transportation, defense and religious functions. It is the only existing three-hole crossing building in the Ming Dynasty in the local area. It is located at the starting point of the Yuhe section of the ancient road to the west of Beijing. It served as a coal transportation hub during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and dozens of coal mines gathered around it.
