About Kiln Temple
The kiln temple is a folk temple where practitioners in the ancient Chinese ceramic firing and coal mining industries worship the kiln god. Its origin is closely related to the safety needs of the kiln industry. The objects of worship are diverse due to differences in regions and industries. Common gods include Emperor Shun, Taishang Laojun, Immortal Bo Ling, Goddess of Fire, etc. Some temples have dual attributes of nature gods and industry ancestors. The rise and fall of kiln temples is closely intertwined with the development of the kiln industry. During the Xining period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1068-1077), the Boshan Kiln Temple was first built. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, many Di Kiln Temples underwent many renovations.
