About Xiuying Fort
Xiuying Fort, located in Longhua District, Haikou City, Hainan Province, was built in the 17th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1891). Xiuying Fort consists of five gun positions: Gongbei, Zhendong, Dingxi, Zhenwu and Zhenwei. They are arranged in a straight line from east to west and are about 241 meters long. The gun gates all face north, facing the sea, and are surrounded by solid city walls. In the middle is a large playground of 6,867 square meters. The entire fort together with ancillary buildings covers an area of about 33,000 square meters. The Xiuying Fort is a grand military facility in ancient Hainan. It is a historical testimony that the Hainan people are not afraid of violence and resist foreign humiliation.
