About Nie's Ancestral Hall
Nie's ancestral hall is a family ancestral hall where the Chinese nation worships their ancestors and holds sacrifices. Most of its buildings adopt a quadrangle layout, with a theater, a main hall, etc., and have the functions of offering sacrifices and handling family affairs. Most of the existing Nie ancestral halls were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and are widely distributed in Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Guangdong and other places. The Chongqing Yanjia Nie Ancestral Hall was built in the late Ming Dynasty to commemorate Nie Xian, the Minister of Justice of the Ming Dynasty. It was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Chongqing in 2019, and protective renovations were completed in early 2022. The Nie Clan Ancestral Hall in Xiujiang, Jiangxi was rebuilt and completed in 2013.
