About Chaoma Bridge
Chaozhen Bridge, commonly known as Shengtang Bridge, is located in the middle of Liantang Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai, crossing the Shihe River from north to south. The bridge is named after the original Chaozhen Taoist Temple (also known as Yinzhen Taoist Temple, commonly known as Shengtang) on the north side. The bridge is a single-hole stone arch bridge, made of bluestone and granite. The bluestone is from the Ming Dynasty, and the granite was added during the Qing Dynasty's reconstruction. The bridge is 18 meters long, 3.45 meters wide, and has an arch span of 6.82 meters. It adopts a segmented parallel arch structure. The year of its founding is unknown, but it can be traced back to the reconstruction in the 34th year of Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty (1555). This reconstruction was presided over by Wan Lin, a wealthy businessman from Li.
