About Zhongshan Road
Zhongshan Rd. is located in the main urban area of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. It is the earliest Zhongshan Road in China. It is part of the Yingling Avenue built by the National Government in 1928 to welcome Sun Yat-sen's coffin. When it was completed, it was the longest street in the world and was known as the "Meridian of the Republic of China". In the 1960s, Zhongshan Road was briefly changed to Renmin Road, and then its original name was restored. In a narrow sense, it refers to the section from Gulou Square to Xinjiekou Square, which is about 1,739.2 meters long and 40 meters wide. Along the way are Jiangsu Radio and Television City, Nanjing University, Jinling Hotel and other institutions.
