About Dan Gar Ancient Town

The ancient city of Dangar, the Mongolian transliteration of the Tibetan word "Dongkel", means "white conch". It is located on the north bank of the Yellow River, on the shore of the West Sea, at the source of the Huangshui River, 40 kilometers away from Xining City. The ancient city of Dangar was built in the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years. Since the Western Han Dynasty, it has gradually become an important town where commerce, military, religion, folk customs and other diverse cultures blend. It is known as the "Throat of the Sea", "Tea Horse Merchant City" and "Little Beijing".
