About BLUE WAYS 2
The Brewis is a Panamanian bulk carrier that ran aground in the waters near Chengshan Town, Weihai in September 2022. It is 190 meters long and 31 meters wide. It was built by Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. of Japan in 1998. The ship was originally planned to go to Rongcheng Longyan Port for renovation and upgrade. On September 19, 2022, affected by the peripheral circulation of Typhoon "Namadu", it ran aground in the sea near Chengshan Town and entered water while no-load. The Beihai Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport dispatched the helicopter "B-7126" and the rescue ship "Beihai Rescue 111", and successfully rescued 25 crew members in distress after 40 minutes of operation. Due to the high cost of towing and the fact that the ship's hull had reached its end of life, the ship owner did not tow the ship out of the shallow water.
