About Beijing Songtang Museum
Beijing Songtangzhai Folk Sculpture Museum is located at No. 3 Guozijian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is the country's first private art museum with the theme of folk sculpture. It was founded by Li Songtang in October 2001 and opened to the public on February 2, 2002. It was originally located at No. 14 Liulichang East Street and moved to its current location on July 12, 2008. The museum collects thousands of stone, brick and wood carvings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, covering doorways, roof ridges, tile edges, screen walls, door frames and other architectural components and furniture. Among them, the stone-carved beams of the "Emperor's Parade" from the Qing Dynasty and the door frames from the "Barbarians Drinking Beasts" from the Yuan Dynasty are the treasures of the museum.
