About Imhoff-Stollwerck-Museum

The Imhoff-Stollwerck Museum, also known as the Cologne Chocolate Museum (Imhoff-Stollwerck-Museum), is located near the cathedral of Cologne, an industrial city in western Germany. It was founded in 1993 by German chocolate maker Hans Imhoff. The museum has an exhibition area of about 4,000 square meters, a collection of about 2,500 pieces, and receives about 600,000 visitors every year. The architectural layout of the museum is divided into two main parts. The first part shows the development of chocolate in Europe and the equipment used in early chocolate making. The second part shows the process of producing specialty chocolate with modern technology, including the production method of hollow chocolate and the knowledge of chocolate ingredients. The museum also introduces the chocolate refining technology invented by Swiss Rudolf Lehn in 1879.
