About Kang Youwei's former residence
Kang Youwei's former residence, formerly known as Yanxiang Old House (some say Salixiang Old House), which Kang Youwei called "a century-old house", is located in Su Village, Yinhe Community, Danzao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It covers an area of 81 square meters and was built in the eighth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1858). Kang Youwei's former residence is located from northeast to southwest, with a layout of three rooms and two corridors, a hard top, and a wok-eared gable. The ancillary buildings include Weiqing Kanggong Temple (Kang Youwei Memorial Hall), Kang's Ancestral Hall, Danru Tower, Library, Seven Pines Pavilion, Jiuqu Bridge, Guanyu Pavilion, etc. Kang Youwei's former residence is of great value for studying the history of Kang Youwei's youth.
