About Mahahui Temple

Dahui Temple, also known as the Great Buddha Temple, is located at No. 11 Dahui Temple Road, Haidian District, Beijing. It was built in the eighth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1513), and now only the Dahui Temple remains. In its heyday, Dahui Temple had 183 large and small halls, covering an area of 421 acres. The Dabei Hall of Dahui Temple faces south and is about 30 meters high. It is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has double eaves on the top of the verandah, a tiled roof, and a rhombus window for lighting between the two eaves. The top of the hall is a gilt bracket and a dragon caisson. The beams and purlins are all painted with spirals, and small colorful Buddhas are placed at the plugs of the pillars. There are 20 of them now.
