About China Railway Museum

The China Railway Museum is composed of three halls: the Zhengyangmen Exhibition Hall, the Dongjiao Exhibition Hall, and the Zhan Tianyou Memorial Hall. It is located in Beijing. It is the only national-level professional museum for railways. It is a second-class public welfare institution affiliated to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. Its main task is to be responsible for the collection and protection of railway cultural relics, exhibitions, academic research, restoration and appraisal. The museum was formerly the Central Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways established in 1958. Due to work needs, after four organizational adjustments, the original unit was abolished in 1978 and the Science and Technology Museum of the Ministry of Railways was established. In 2003, it was officially renamed the China Railway Museum.
