About Hall of Clocks and Watches

The Hall of Clocks and Watches is located in the south group room area on the south side of Fengxian Gate of the Palace Museum in Beijing. It is closed on Mondays except statutory holidays and summer vacations, and is open from Tuesday to Sunday. It displays 82 clocks and clocks from the Qing Palace collection (21 Chinese and 61 foreign). The exhibits cover products from manufacturing offices, Guangzhou, Suzhou and other places as well as the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and other countries from the 18th to the 20th century. Chinese clocks are mostly in the shape of pavilions, flowers and fruits and are inlaid with gems. Western clocks are themed with architectural figures, and some have mechanical functions such as music playing and watercraft. The exhibition hall displays six units and scenes such as a gold-plated copper writing clock through color divisions.
