About Hall of Dispelling Clouds
Paiyun Hall is located in the Summer Palace at No. 19, Xinjian Gongmen Road, Haidian District, Beijing, on the central axis of the front mountain of Wanshou Mountain. It was originally the Dabaoen Yanshou Temple built in the 15th year of Qianlong's reign (1750). After it was burned down by the British and French forces in the 10th year of Xianfeng's reign (1860), it was rebuilt into the existing building complex in the 12th year of Guangxu's reign (1886), specifically for Empress Dowager Cixi's longevity celebration. The Paiyun Hall complex covers an area of about 8,000 square meters.
