Chengdu to Mount Emei day trip or overnight ⛰️ Mount Emei is a 1.5 hour train ride from Chengdu. Many people try to do it in one day. Possible, but rushed. Day trip version Take the earliest train (around 6:30am). Arrive at Emei Shan Station. Bus to the mountain entrance. Cable car up to the Golden Summit. See the giant Buddha statue and cloud sea. Cable car down. Train back to Chengdu by evening. Works but no time to explore temples lower down. Overnight version Stay at a monastery or hotel halfway up. Watch sunrise from the Golden Summit. Much more peaceful. Less rushed. ⚠️ The cable car from the middle of the mountain to the top stops at 5pm. Plan accordingly.
