Sanbao Ceramic Art Village – Where the Local Artists

By Meet JIngdezhen · Jingdezhen

Sanbao Ceramic Art Village – Where the Local Artists Live Sanbao is the most atmospheric part of Jingdezhen. A stream runs through a narrow valley, with pottery studios, small galleries, and low-key cafes lining both sides. It‘s free to walk through. The main road is about 3 kilometers long. You can cover it in an hour, but most people take much longer because every other building invites a look inside. Some studios let you watch the artist at work. Others will sell you finished pieces directly. The prices are higher than the markets, but you’re buying from the maker without a middleman. Sanbao Peng Art Center is the most notable building inside the village — a cluster of modern galleries set against the hillside. Well worth the short walk up from the main road. To get there, you can rent an electric scooter (30 RMB per day) or take a Didi. Walking from the entrance to the far end and back takes about 2 hours.
