Huashan Mountain: A Day Trip for Adventurers About two

Huashan Mountain: A Day Trip for Adventurers About two hours east of Xi’an, Huashan is one of China’s Five Great Mountains. It’s also the most dangerous hike in the country — narrow planks bolted to sheer cliffs, chains as handrails. But you don’t have to take the scary route. Cable cars go up all five peaks. The West Peak cable car is the longest and smoothest. From the top, walk along ridgelines to other peaks. The views of surrounding peaks rising from clouds are worth the trip. A day trip is possible but long. Leave Xi’an by 7am. Take a train from Xi’an North to Huashan North (30 minutes, 55 RMB). Then a free shuttle to the visitor center. Entry 160 RMB (March‑November). Cable car one‑way 140‑200 RMB depending on route. Wear sturdy shoes. Bring water and snacks. Avoid weekends.
