The Kung Fu Performance: Crowded but Worth Every Minute

By Meet ShaolinTemple · Zhengzhou

The Kung Fu Performance: Crowded but Worth Every Minute The martial arts show is the main event for many visitors. And it delivers. Performed daily inside the Wushu Hall, the show runs approximately 30 minutes. Monks and their disciples demonstrate a range of techniques — hard qigong (breaking iron bars against the head or throat), traditional fist forms, weapons routines, and animal-style boxing. The live atmosphere is entirely different from watching a movie. The impact of a staff hitting the stage vibrates through the room. The typical schedule includes shows at 10:00, 11:30, 14:00, and 15:30. Winter hours may reduce the afternoon slots. Arriving 30–40 minutes early is necessary to secure a seat. During school holidays and summer weekends, visitors have been known to queue an hour in advance. The performance is included in the 80 RMB admission. No extra payment required. Photo-taking is permitted, but using a flash is discouraged — it disturbs the performers and the atmosphere. After the show, for a small donation, visitors can have a photo taken with the performers near the stage exit.
