About Huang Mu Temple
Huang Mu Temple, also known as Xian Mian Temple, is a municipal cultural relic protection unit in Shanghai, located in the Shanghai Botanical Garden in Xuhui District. The temple was built in the sixth year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1728). The existing building is the Huang Daopo Memorial Hall, which was renovated in 1991 and covers an area of 2,092 square meters. It was opened after renovation in 2017. The temple is equipped with a Textile History Museum, a Machinery and Equipment Museum, etc., displaying three-spindle spinning wheels, kapok carts and other physical objects, showing Huang Daopo's achievements in innovating cotton textile technology in the Yuan Dynasty and spreading it to Wunijing. The building is in the style of a six-beam, five-bay intermittent hilltop. A plaque of "Huang Daopo Memorial Hall" hangs on the gatehouse.
