About Yaohua Street Historical and Cultural District
Yaohua Street Historical and Cultural District is located in Liwan District, Guangzhou City, bounded by Changshou West Road to the south, Hejiaci Road and Tianliu Ancient Road to the north, Baohua Road to the west, and Yaohua East Street and Yaohua Middle East Street to the east, covering an area of 8.28 hectares. The neighborhood was a residential area developed and built by thirteen wealthy merchants during the Tongzhi and Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty to solve the shortage of residential land at that time. It relatively completely retains the traditional Xiguan residential form and street texture. In 2000, Yaohua Street was announced as one of the first batch of historical and cultural reserves. In November 2014, the area was listed as a historical and cultural district.
