About Nanchang Zoo
Nanchang Zoo is located on Taohua South Road, Chaoyangzhou, Nanchang City. It is a comprehensive zoo integrating wildlife protection, exhibitions, and science education. Its predecessor was the Nanchang People's Park Animal Exhibition Area established in 1959. It was established independently in 1987 and occupied an area of 8.24 hectares. It was demolished in 2013. Construction of the current site started in October 2005, with a total investment of 198 million yuan, covering an area of 784.5 acres (approximately 0.52 square kilometers). It was officially opened in 2011 and includes six themed exhibition areas including Africa, America, Australia, and China. The areas are divided by the 3.6-kilometer Taohua River water system, and each park is connected through zodiac-themed bridges.
