About Bronze Statue of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen

The Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Bronze Statue is a commemorative sculpture located in the core area of Xinjiekou, Nanjing, and is open to the public free of charge throughout the day. The existing bronze statue was designed and made by the sculptor Dai Guangwen in 1996. It is 5.37 meters high and weighs 6.2 tons. The total height of the bronze statue including the base is 11.12 meters, which means November 12, the birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It is oriented north and south. The history of this bronze statue can be traced back to 1929. Japanese friend Umeya Shokichi commissioned Shinohara Kinsaku Works to cast four bronze statues of Sun Yat-sen in speech poses, one of which was originally placed at the Nanjing Central Military Academy.
