About Erawan Shrine 1

The Erawan Buddha is Brahma, one of the three main gods of Brahmanism. In Southeast Asia, it is regarded as the god who dominates the prosperity and wealth of the world. The place where it is worshipped, the Bangkok Erawan Buddha Altar, is located at No. 494 Ratchadamnoen Road. It is free of charge and is popular with incense. It is one of the important religious sites in Thailand. On August 17, 2015, an explosion occurred at the Erawan Buddha Shrine in Bangkok, killing 20 people and injuring more than 120 people. The explosion caused 438 primary and secondary schools in Bangkok to suspend classes the next day. On August 29, Thai police captured a man carrying bomb materials in the suburbs and determined that he was suspected of being involved in the case. After the Buddha statue was damaged in the explosion, it was repaired by craftsmen organized by the Ministry of Culture of Thailand.
