About Cuiyan Temple
Cuiyan Temple is located at the north end of Cuiyan Road, Wanli District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, and is located in the Wanli Basin at the east foot of Meiling. Founded in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it is one of the famous temples in Jiangxi. It is known as the "Eight Famous Temples in Xishan" together with Xiangcheng, Shuangling, Yunfeng, Fengsheng, Anxian, Liutong and Panlong, and ranks first among them. It is the only surviving temple among them. Historically, it was known as Hongjing and Cuiyan. In the Southern Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Cuiyan Guanghuayuan. After many times of construction and destruction, it was restored in the 7th year of Shunzhi (1650) of the Qing Dynasty. During the Anti-Japanese War, part of the hall was burned down by the Japanese army and was rebuilt at the new site in 1995.
