About Balog Zon
Balagong is located within Nisi Township, in the northwest of Shangri-La, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with a total area of 276 square kilometers. Situated at the intersection of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet, it is one of the core scenic areas of the Hongshan Section of the “Three Rivers Flowing Together” World Natural Heritage Site. Balagong combines snow-capped mountains, canyons, glaciers, rivers, high-altitude lakes, and pristine forests into a single destination. The highest elevation in the area, Balagong Snow Mountain, is the highest peak in Shangri-La County, standing at an altitude of 5,626 meters. The lowest point is Shuizhuang, located along the border with Sichuan Province, where the river valley averages an elevation of about 2,650 meters. The annual average temperature is around 14.8°C, resulting in a subtropical climate typical of northern Asia.
