About Panjil Strange Rock Forest Scenic Area

Panjir Stone Forest is a tourist attraction in Xinjiang. It is located on the ridge and slopes of Panjirtag Mountain in Keljin Town, Toksun County, Xinjiang. It is 55 kilometers away from Toksun County in the southeast and 10 kilometers away from Keljin Town in the northwest. It has an average altitude of 1,200 meters and a total area of about 1 square kilometers. The rock mass is mainly composed of Carboniferous volcanic rock and brecciated tuff, which is blue-gray or brownish-red. The rock is rich in calcium carbonate. It is the only igneous rock wind-eroded stone forest area in China. The scenic spot was rated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction in 2017, and the second Panjier Strange Rock Forest Climbing Hiking Conference will be held in May 2025. This area is located in the "Thirty-mile Wind Zone" in the west of Turpan.
