About Flame Mountain Grand Scenic Area
The Huoyan Mountain Grand Scenic Area is a national 3A-level tourist attraction located in Turpan City, Xinjiang. It opened in 2017 and is themed around “Dreamlike Journey to the West,” presenting the story of Huoyan Mountain from Journey to the West in the form of panoramic fashion and dreamlike experiences. The scenic area is situated on the northern edge of the Turpan Basin, along the Northern Route of the Ancient Silk Road, with Huoyan Mountain running east–west. Historically, it was the site of the ancient state of Gaochang; according to legend, it is also the location of Huoyan Mountain, where the Tang monk Xuanzang and his disciples used a banana fan to extinguish a raging fire.
