About Sanqiao Village
San San Qiao Village is an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Lu Keqin Town, Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with administrative code 652122104207. The village is located on the southwestern side of Shanshan County, 50 kilometers from the county seat, and 5 kilometers west of the Liu Zhong City Site. It derives its name from the three bridges spanning three waterways in the area. In 1978, it was established as the San San Qiao Brigade, which was later reorganized into a villagers’ committee in 1984. The village retains the traditional architectural features of an ancient Uygur village, and currently houses 205 ancient mulberry trees over a century old. It preserves the craft of making mulberry paper—also recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage—and the art of performing the Twelve Muqam.
