About Tuyugou Scenic Area
Tuyugou is located in the middle section of Flame Mountain in Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang. It is a comprehensive scenic area that combines canyon scenery, cave ruins, and traditional villages. Its core attractions include the magnificent Tuyugou Grand Canyon, the Tuyugou Cave Complex which was first carved in the 5th century AD, and Mazha Village, which has a history spanning more than 1,700 years. As one of the oldest Uygur villages still existing in Xinjiang, Mazha Village has preserved its adobe architectural complex intact and is renowned as a “Famous Historical and Cultural Village of China.” As an important hub along the ancient Silk Road, this region showcases a history of diverse cultures blending together, and it has now become a major tourist destination.
