About Huoyun Valley Scenic Area
The Huoyun Valley Scenic Area is located on the southern side of the Tianshan Mountains, 20 kilometers north of Turpan City in Xinjiang. It was formed through long-term weathering, stripping, and water erosion of reddish-brown sandstone and gravel rocks dating from the Mesozoic Cretaceous to the Tertiary period. The landscape is characterized by isolated peaks, steep cliffs, and a vast network of gorges and ravines featuring Danxia landforms. The core attractions of the scenic area include Huoyun Cave, the Heavenly Ladder, and Dongtianmen, among other geological wonders. Officially opened to visitors in March 2022, the area has relatively few tourists and is considered a hidden gem. It is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with regular admission fees of 40 yuan per person; a half-price discount was offered in May 2024.
