About Puchang Village
Puchang Village, which belongs to Shanshan County in Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located at the southern end of Shanshan County’s old city, right next to the Kumtag Desert. The village’s name originates from the former name of Shanshan County during the Tang Dynasty, which was “Puchang.” The village was developed through the renovation of the former Baza Village. Construction of the New Rural Development Project for the village—formerly known as Baza Village—began at the end of 2007, with the theme of Loulan culture. By employing traditional earthen building techniques, the project restored the distinctive architectural features of the Uyghur people, creating a unique urban district characterized by gray brick pavements and earth-based structures.
